Premier League side Manchester City have reportedly agreed terms with another Nigerian forward Larry Kayode.

The former Austria Vienna man was pictured at City’s training ground. The club is expected to loan the player out to Girona for further development before he returns to join fully.

Newcastle United were also linked to the Nigerian but the Cityzens beat them to the signature of the 24-year old. Pep Guardiola recently sold a Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho to Leicester City as he dropped in the pecking order at the Etihad.

The Spaniard has Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Berndo Silva all upfront. With wingbacks joining the team, there were limited spots. Kayode, whose full first name is Olanrewaju, started his pro career at Red Bull Ghana before moving to Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas. Mimosas is famed for producing African stars that exceled in the Premier League like former Arsenal and Sunderland man Emmanuel Eboue, former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Kolo Toure and Chelsea Champions League winner Salomon Kalou. Even Liverpool fans know the chances of getting another “Steven Gerard” is as slim as the that of J.K. Rawlings fulfilling her promise of buying Donald J. Trump a unicorn should his approval ratings in Scotland be in the green.

However as Newcastle United return to the Premier League next season, many will wonder just how it all went downhill for Shelvey who at least can be said to have played for the Reds with a passion akin only to the retired skipper even if he was not as talented.

Besides if the evolution of the game at the professional level is anything to go by, talent without tactical discipline is being relegated more often to the back seats these days. There is a reason why the talented assembly of Brazilians hardly rule recent tournaments like they did back in the day. Continue reading WITH NEWCASTLE, SHELVEY HAS ONE LAST CHANCE AT STARDOM

Pep Guardiola wants the supporters to fill the Etihad

Pep Guardiola wants the supporters to fill the Etihad and create an electric atmosphere for City’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Guardiola says that it’s an important match not only because the victory in it can strengthen City’s European qualification hopes, but, also because it’s the last time Pablo Zabaleta, one of the club’s greatest servants, will feature on the home turf and on such an occasion, there must be a buzz in and around the stadium.

Zabaleta has recently revealed that he won’t be extending his City stint, which is 9-season long; any further and will make his way out of the club when the on-going season comes to an end.

Guardiola reckons when a player stays at the club for as long a period as Zabaleta has stayed, he becomes a part of the core group and it’s not that easy to get an ideal replacement for him straight away. Continue reading Pep Guardiola wants the supporters to fill the Etihad

Argentina national team coach Edgardo Bauza has revealed that his player Lionel Messi could eventually leave Barcelona for a spectacular move to the Premier League to play under coach Pep Guardiola.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has had a frustrating time at the Nou Camp of recent. The 29-year old is yet to agree to a new deal and Barcelona have been battling poor form.

They sit on the second spot in the La Liga though they are bent on defending the title they won last year. They would face a tough test as Real Madrid are keen on ending their La Liga drought. There is all to fight for in the Copa del Rey as they are favourites but they could be knocked out of the Champions League after losing 4-0 to Paris St. Germain in the first leg.

Bauza says that the player is happy to continue but he also wants to keep winning titles.

“I can see just how happy he is at Barcelona with his family around him. Of course when Leo is happy that helps him give his best performance, morale is crucial for form. A footballer is happy when he is playing and winning, otherwise he is rarely happy,” Bauza opined. Continue reading BAUZA SAYS MESSI COULD MOVE TO CITY

Coleman wants to be rewarded for qualifying

Chris Coleman accomplished something with the Welsh national football that no other manager from the past 50 years has managed to do with the team and it’s being able to push the national squad to their first qualification tournament since 1958.

Wales are competing in the UEFA 2016 Euro’s and were pitted in group B along with: England, Slovakia and Russia. The first group stages match of Wale will be played on June 11 of the ongoing year and the head coach Chris Coleman wants to renew his contract before the group stages process kicks off.

The contract of Chris Coleman expires in the summer in a few months’ time in just about the same period of time when the finals of the UEFA 2016 Euro’s kick-off but Coleman wants to know what will happen with his long term future as soon as possible and not having to wonder what is going to occur with his managerial career.

This contract negotiation process has been going on for the past few weeks and the longer that it takes; this will further affect the Welsh national football team as it distracts Chris Coleman from focusing on the approaching tournament and his respective games which are looming.

Taking into consideration that Chris Coleman has managed to get Wales into the group stages of the 2016 Euro’s and this is something that had not been accomplished in the history of the Welsh football team, Coleman is hoping that he has gained the trust and support from the head officials of the Football Association of Wales and get rewarded with a contract renewal.

Never in the history of the Welsh national football team had they qualified for UEFA European Football Championship but it happened now and the man behind it all wants to continue making history with the national side.
